Individual Support ↓
Understand what works for you.
There is no single right way to think, communicate, focus, organise, process information or experience work.
Individual Support creates space to understand your own way of working.
What gives you energy.
What helps your strengths show.
What creates unnecessary friction.
And what might make work clearer, more sustainable and more like something that works with you rather than against you.
Start with your experience. Not a stereotype.
ADHD does not tell us exactly what somebody will need.
Autism does not tell us how somebody communicates.
A diagnosis does not tell us where somebody's strengths sit.
We begin with the individual.
Your preferences.
Your strengths.
Your challenges.
Your environment.
Your role.
And what you would like to understand or make easier.
Neurodivergence brings difference. Work can bring friction.
A neuroaffirming approach does not mean pretending everything is easy.
People can experience very real challenges with attention, executive functioning, sensory processing, communication, working memory, emotional regulation, change, fatigue or other aspects of working life.
But challenge does not automatically mean deficit.
Sometimes the difficulty sits within the person.
Sometimes it sits within the environment.
Often it sits in the interaction between the two.
Explore what is happening in your working day.
Communication
Find the ways information works best for you.
Focus and attention
Understand the conditions that help attention work with you.
Workload and executive functioning
Make the invisible demands of work more visible.
Sensory experience
Understand how the environment affects you.
Change and predictability
Find a better balance between flexibility and certainty.
Energy and sustainability
Look at what work costs as well as what it produces.
Working relationships
Understand difference without automatically turning it into conflict.
Strengths and capability
Understand the conditions that allow you to do your best work.
You do not need to arrive with the answer.
Sometimes people know exactly what they need.
Sometimes they know something is not working but cannot yet explain why.
Individual Support can start with:
This is what I am experiencing.
We can explore the rest together.
Diagnosis can be useful. It does not define the conversation.
Some people come to us with a diagnosis.
Some identify as neurodivergent without one.
Some are still exploring whether neurodivergence may be relevant.
The purpose is not to diagnose.
It is to understand what might help.
Sometimes understanding creates the change.
Not every conversation needs to end with a formal workplace adjustment.
Sometimes recognising a pattern helps.
Sometimes a different strategy helps.
Sometimes greater self understanding makes it easier to explain something to a manager.
Sometimes it becomes clear that a more structured assessment would be useful.
Confidentiality should be clear from the beginning.
Where Individual Support is funded by an employer, the person should understand what is confidential and whether anything is expected to be shared afterwards.
Paying for support does not automatically mean an organisation receives the details of somebody's conversation.
Trust matters.
Individual Support should feel like support.
What kind of support would be useful?
The right starting point depends on what you are trying to understand or change.
You might want space to explore your own experience, a more detailed understanding of how work and neurodivergence are interacting, or support putting adjustments into practice.

The aim is not to become less neurodivergent.
It is to understand yourself better.
Reduce avoidable friction.
Build on what works.
Recognise what you need.
And create working conditions in which your strengths, contribution and individual way of thinking have more opportunity to thrive.
Need somewhere to start?
Tell us what is happening.
What feels difficult.
What is already working.
Or simply what you would like to understand better.
