We help you understand ADHD through a practical lens. We begin by defining ADHD, including the model. This session gives a fantastic understanding of ADHD including the challenges and strengths. We explore lots of strategies and adjustments to enable ADHDers to achieve success. We also delve into matters of communication and learning. Our experts weave into the session case studies and personal stories to enable further clarity of ADHD.

Course content

Understanding ADHD, by Neuro Tide

  • We make a start by understanding the model of ADHD, recognising the multi-layered nature of the spectrum, and embracing the unique presentations within the ADHD community. It is here that we share with you some statistics too.

  • When referring to, or communicating with somebody with ADHD it is really important to be aware of the language to use, and we share this vital information with you.

  • It is a misunderstanding by a significant number of people that ADHDers have a lower intelligence than the average population. Here we explore this myth and correct the understanding.

  • Individuals with ADHD have unique preferences and it's crucial to tailor verbal and written communication to enable quick and easy processing, including summaries and reminders. We also delve into learning styles and address challenges related to email responses, report writing, and more.

  • In this section, we will delve into prevalent myths and misunderstandings surrounding ADHD. By addressing these misconceptions, our aim is to provide you with a comprehensive and accurate understanding of ADHD.

  • We embrace and celebrate the positive aspects like creativity, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to excel in challenging situations. We also acknowledge and understand the obstacles posed by working memory challenges and procrastination, as well as the spectrum of hypersensitivity to sensory input.

  • Many people with ADHD also experience multiple neurodivergent conditions, which, in some situations can significantly heighten a risk of mental health challenges. but not always. Here we address and understand these interconnected factors.

  • Many people with ADHD have this co-occurring condition and so we explore when it becomes a challenge.

Personal stories and case studies

Throughout the session, the facilitator shares their personal stories as someone living with ADHD. These real-life experiences are woven together with case studies and throughout the session to provide a comprehensive understanding.

Practical guidance and reasonable adjustments

It's essential to deepen your understanding of ADHD and also explore reasonable adjustments and new approaches to tasks, all of which will be shared during the session.

Depending on the session and your needs, these can be throughout or at the end. But there is always time during the session, and you can ask us anytime later anything you need to help your understanding and application of what you learn.
